Monsignor John W. Jordan, Executive Director

Monsignor John W. Jordan joined the NativityMiguel Network of Schools as Executive Director in October 2004.  Under his guidance, the Network has opened 17 new schools in 11 states .  As a leader in Catholic education for thirty years, Monsignor Jordan has established innovative environments for Catholic education in school systems and parishes alike. With venturists, he founded a distance learning program to train Catholic school teachers called “Serve Our Schools.”

Before joining the NativityMiguel Network of Schools, Monsignor Jordan served as the Director of Institutional Ministry and Advancement for the National Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) since 2000.  Before joining NCEA, he served as Superintendent of Schools for ten years in the Diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and has experience as Principal of three high schools, Instructor at Lewis University and Penn College of Technology. He has also served as Rector of Villa St. Joseph and Campus Minister at Lycoming College and Lewis University. He currently serves on the Board of Visitors for the University of Scranton-Panuska College, the Association Mutual Health Insurance (AMHIC) Board of Directors and as a past board member of Marywood University.

Monsignor Jordan received a B.A. from Lewis University, an M.S. in Education: Administration and Supervision from Northern Illinois University, and has pursued Doctoral studies in Education at Lehigh University. He has received certification as a Distance Learner Provider through Texas A&M’s graduate program.

Terry Shields, Vice President for Mission and Programming

Terry Shields is the Vice President for Mission and Programming for the NativityMiguel Network of Schools. Shields has networked the Miguel Schools since 2001 and, guided by its advisory board, has organized gatherings, facilitated the exchange of best practices, and reported the success of the school model.

As Vice President for Mission and Programming for the NativityMiguel Network of Schools, his particular role is to provide a wide range of services for Educational and Professional Development to assist our member schools. The annual conferences for school presidents, development directors, principals, graduate support personnel and teachers that he will direct look to further opportunities for learning and growth. He directs the Network’s Information Systems for Data Collecting, Data Analysis and Data Reporting.
Since much of the national effort has been successful by sharing Best Practices that support the 9 Mission Effectiveness Standards, the Director of Programs will collaborate with organizations and universities for research on studies, innovations & trends pertaining to educational and operational model

He graduated from the University of Scranton with a BA in English and earned a Masters Degree in Education at Loyola College. He served as a middle school teacher at St. Ignatius Loyola Academy, a member school of the network in Baltimore for three years. Shields has taught at the high school level, ministered as a pastoral associate within a parish setting, and, as a Jesuit volunteer, served as co-director of an after-school program."
