John Jordan Named as Executive Director for Foundation for
Nativity & Miguel Schools
September, 28, 2004
WASHINGTON,
DC – Monsignor John Jordan, who has served as the Director
of Institutional Ministry and Advancement for the National
Catholic Educational Association (NCEA) since 2000, has been
named as the next Executive Director of the Foundation for
Nativity and Miguel Schools (FNMS).
“Msgr.
Jordan’s leadership has been instrumental to the development
of key ministries at the NCEA, most significantly strengthening
our relationship with essential partners who support our work
with Catholic schools,” said Most Rev. Gregory Aymond,
Bishop of Austin, Texas and Chair of the Board of the NCEA.
“He is an outstanding, dedicated priest and his contribution
to Catholic education across the country has been profound.”
In
his position with the NCEA, Monsignor Jordan spearheaded several
programs and projects of the association including the annual
Seton Awards Gala Event, an annual fund-raising event which
recognizes individuals who have made outstanding contributions
to Catholic education. He has also secured foundation support
for specific programs, and established corporate partnerships.
“He
truly understands the balance between mission and development,”
said Mary Hughes, chair of the NCEA Development Board. “His
spirit speaks to the mission and he values the involvement
of so many who have made that mission possible.”
As
a leader in Catholic education for thirty years, Monsignor
Jordan has established innovative environments for Catholic
education in school systems and parishes alike. Before joining
NCEA, Monsignor Jordan served as Superintendent of Schools
for nine years in the Diocese of Scranton, Pennsylvania, and
has experience as Principal, Rector, Instructor, and Chaplain.
Monsignor Jordan received a B.A. from Lewis University, an
M.S. in Education: Administration and Supervision from Northern
Illinois University, and has pursued Doctoral studies in Education
at Lehigh University.
“We
are delighted that Monsignor Jordan will be leading the Foundation,
“said B.J. Cassin, chair of the FNMS Board and Founder
of the Cassin Educational Initiatives Foundation. “His
national presence will strengthen and sustain the incredible
work of the Nativity and Miguel Schools and maximize the benefit
to the students, families and communities they serve.”
Monsignor
Jordan will be replacing Shannon Clancy who served as the
founding Executive Director of the Foundation and led the
organization through its initial year of start-up. With her
leadership and commitment to this mission, the Foundation
has taken tremendous steps in defining the purpose and goals
of this collaborative initiative, forming an active board,
and securing funding for programs such as the Principals Institute
and the Development Institute.
The
FNMS aims to sustain the Nativity and Miguel Schools and strengthen
the capacity of the schools to more effectively educate the
underserved students and families in their care. For more
